Evil Israel

No, I'm not suggesting that Israel is evil, but there are nuts out there who just can't let go of those "dancing Israelis" when 9/11 happened. It saddens me because, otherwise, these are probably nice people. I chat with one of them, who sincerely insists only Zionists are evil, not the rest of us. Unfortunately, that's the way these things always start, and we have a pretty good idea where it's all going to end, God forbid. After all, there's good ol' Pat Buchanan proclaiming American Jews to be the "amen corner" for Israel, and I'm sure he's not the only one. It's always been my fear that someday the U.S. would attack Israel, and then what do we do? Most non-Jews seem to take it for granted that we are more loyal to Israel than America. Remember, I converted. My father used to rant about Jews loving Israel so much that they should all be deported. And Israel often expects the Diaspora to rubber-stamp everything they do, which doesn't help either. I guess we should have gotten used to this---after some forty centuries. I don't always support everything Israel does, and I'm sure a lot of my co-religionists feel the same, but we're stuck in the middle nevertheless. Let's hope I'm just being paranoid.

Hello Again-Been A Long Time

Okay,I'm over my anger. Unfortunately, I've been over it for a year, but I couldn't get into the damn account. I finally figured out what was wrong today. Brace yourself, it's election time again, and I feel a rant coming on....

Hi There!

Well, I'm back. Don't all cheer at once, now.
So, the Dems are doing nothing constructive, but why should I be surprised? And, of course, we're being asked to swallow the line about Al Qiada having nukes. Yawn.
As for the home-front, my son wants to become a Christian. Ain't that nice? I'd rather he be an atheist or a Buddhist, for cryinoutloud. This is the result of stupid bus drivers, teachers, and ignorant Jews trying to "help" him. How nice. This isn't going to be pretty, but:
DAMN YOU CHRISTIAN-BASTARDS! DAMN YOU TO HELL!
There, I feel better now. Sorry, but I won't take it back, either. If you don't like it, TOUGH. How would you feel if your child was brainwashed? Then stop brainwashing mine. Thank you.

Just Checking...

I saw on one of the conspiracy websites that there are plans afoot to require any blogger who criticizes Bush to register with Congress as a lobby, the refusal to do so being imprisonment, so I decided to test it out.
Not that I believe it's true, mind you, but I really needed a good excuse to bash Dubya and this is as good as any.

BY THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH...

Just a friendly reminder. And let's hope the Dems have enough votes to rescind the Patriot Act, etc., and put the Constitution back in its rightful place! Republicans, you KNOW that Dubya is wrong, so add YOUR votes to the dissent as well. It's perfectly patriotic to say NO to the president. Remember, Congress NEVER declared war, and no president should EVER have that power again. The Constitution still contains the paragraph: "...should any government...become [a tyranny]...the people have the right---THE DUTY---to overthrow it..."
I may not have quoted it exactly, but that's the gist of it. No more partisanship, guys. We The People voted. You work for US, so let's start working together.

Have A Good One...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I wish I could ice-skate. It looks like such fun. Oh well, if we ever get any good snow I still have my snow-shoes.

Maybe God DOES "Protect Drunkards, Fools, And The USA"?

I know. It sounds preposterous, but considering all the blunders and just plain stupid foreign policy decisions of late, you gotta wonder sometimes. Certainly Dubya qualifies on all three counts! Who knows? Maybe there is a compassionate, caring God out there somewhere---or else one who has a sense of humor, at least.
How do we always manage to squeak by? Is it because, no matter how bad we blunder, we honestly do try to do what's right? Or is it that our blunders are sooo calamitous that Somebody "up there" has to "save" us in order to keep the whole universe from self-destructing? For some reason, I tend to think it's the latter. Not that I'm ungrateful, mind you; it's nice to know we can go pretty far before the Powers That Be abandon us to our folly. Of course, that's little consolation for the rest of the world, who have to somehow survive our attempts at "improving" things. As Louis B Mayer of MGM was wont to say, when confronted by needlessly "ingenious" movie scripts: "You've improved it worse!" We can at least all be thankful none of the horrible "what-ifs" (well, maybe some of them, but not the worst) have yet come to pass---despite Dubya's penchant for "improving it worse". And I suppose a God who doesn't have television "up there" must need to watch us for "entertainment". Let's hope He doesn't "do" Nielson Ratings...
